横如千里阵云,隐隐然其实有形
点如高峰坠石,磕磕然实如崩也
撇如陆断犀象
折如百钧弩发
竖如万岁枯藤
捺如崩浪雷奔
横折钩如劲弩筋节


卫铄《笔阵图》

This series explores the imagery in basic Chinese calligraphy strokes.

Heng 一  should be like the passing clouds in the sky where the outline is blurry but you can still grasp the shape;
Dian 、 should be like falling stones from the mountain that you can hear the crumbling sound;
Pie ノ should look like the horn of a rhinoceros or the tooth of an elephant;
In Zhe 乙 one should feel the power of a crossbow that can shoot a hundred arrows in the blink of an eye;
Shu | should be like weathered vine aged over ten thousand years;
Naㄟ should be like running waves and roaring thunder;
Hengzhegou should feel like opening a strong bow.
